Rotorua Lakes Council is seeking a motivated and skilled Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor to join our team.
This role is central to strengthening our safety culture and ensuring we provide a safe, healthy and supportive environment for all staff, contractors, and visitors.
About the role
As our HSW Advisor, you will :
Partner closely with leaders across all business units to provide expert advice on the application of HSW systems, policies, legislation, and best practice.
Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring robust root cause analysis and practical corrective actions.
Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend enhancements to Council's HSW systems and processes to elevate safety performance.
Support the delivery of key health, safety and wellbeing initiatives that embed a proactive, risk-based approach across the organisation.
About you
We are looking for someone who is :
Confident engaging with people across all levels of the organisation.
Proactive and solutions-focused, with the ability to influence positive safety outcomes.
Skilled in investigation and analysis, with an eye for detail and continuous improvement.
New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice (Level 4) or equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act
Practical experience advising, supporting, or coordinating HSW in a complex organisation.
Formal ICAM investigation training.
Experience within local government or a high-risk industry environment.
