The purpose of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) group is to work in partnership with the rest of the organisation to provide digital technology and communication solutions that support excellence in policing and service delivery and enable Police's strategic ambitions.
With a primary hub in Porirua, and a presence throughout the country, we deliver new and enhanced solutions directly and through specialist vendor partnerships.
We provide expert advice on how technology can be leveraged to support Police's strategies and turn concepts into reality through collaborative development.
The Agile Coach has an expert level of understanding and experience in Agile theory and methodology and acts as a change catalyst to influence a positive difference in people's behaviours and mindset.
They use a range of techniques to keep initiatives on track, remove roadblocks and escalated problems.
The Agile Coach operates as a consultant, coach, trusted advisor and mentor to leaders of the organisation by using their subject matter expertise, strong interpersonal and empathic skills, and continuous learning.
Their thought leadership and seasoned insights help streamline the tactics and coaching techniques of their peers.
They are responsible for providing guidance on moving forward with product delivery and projects, creating a safe space for experimentation, and ensuring that team members learn as they go.
Key Accountabilities
Champion Agile values and principles to foster collaboration, transparency and continuous improvement across Product Teams
Coach teams, Technical Product Owners and Product Managers to adopt and adapt Agile frameworks (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Lean) that best fit their context
Facilitate Agile ceremonies and workshops to support effective planning, delivery and retrospection
Support teams in building a culture of psychological safety, experimentation and learning
Partner with leadership to remove organisational impediments and enable empowered, self-managing teams
Use data and insights to help teams measure flow, delivery outcomes and customer value
Contribute to the growth of the wider Agile community of practice by sharing learnings and mentoring others
Continuously explore new techniques, tools and practices to evolve how we work

In-depth knowledge of Agile principles, methodologies, and frameworks – well versed in various approaches such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean and SAFe, and possess experience in implementing Agile practices in large complex environments.
Ability to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across a wide range of Product teams and stakeholders.
Excellent relationship, facilitation, and communication skills – ability to lead, influence and secure the right outcomes for our people in a highly complex environment.
Proven experience in coaching, advising, mentoring, and building credibility across a range of stakeholders.
Success with defining relevant metrics, tracking progress, and proving meaningful and data-driven insights to teams and their leadership.
Significant experience as an Agile Coach across Agile transformations.
Coaching experience leaning towards Technical and Business Mastery.
New Zealand Residency.
