About the role

As a Senior Security Specialist in the Internet Protection squad you'll be part of the team that secures the Internet pathways used by ASB employees.

Being part of the Engineering Practice at ASB we encourage our teams to work autonomously in an agile way while actively growing their skills and expertise to continuously improve outcomes for our customers.

You'll have the opportunity to get hands-on with some interesting and complex pieces of work that integrate on an enterprise scale, all while being part of a smaller squad that makes their own decisions about how to work through prioritisation - so your voice will be heard, and your opinions valued.

We advocate for T-Shaped teams which will take you through all facets of engineering in any given day.

We are looking for a mix of technical skills to support the following activities :

Managing and building internet proxy solutions

Managing and building email protection systems

Managing and building DLP solutions

Managing and building zero-trust solutions

We'll value your proven initiative, problem solving abilities and ways in which you have shown leadership while performing your role.

We are looking for an individual that will securely run the services that ASB employees traverse to communicate over the internet.

We have some great technology, and you will make it sing.

You will work collaboratively with our squads and stakeholders to be the voice of engineering and deliver products that delight our customers.

We are looking for someone who brings :

A strong foundation in TCP / IP, DNS, and routing principles

Expertise in SSL / TLS inspection, IPSec, and secure tunnelling

Deep understanding of proxy logic, PAC file behaviour, and traffic forwarding strategies

Proven ability to analyse logs, inspect network traffic, and fine-tune performance

Proven ability to drive operational efficiency by automating routine security tasks and streamlining workflows using tools such as PowerShell, Ansible or Terraform

Expertise in the monitoring and management of services, with a strong focus on observability practices.

A track record of providing technical leadership, guiding teams through complex security challenges, and influencing strategic decisions across platforms.

In addition, the following would be an advantage :

Hands-on experience withZscaler cloud security platform

Hands-on experience with Symantec ProxySG

Hands-on experience with Elastic

Familiarity with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tools and strategies

Proficiency in Linux system administration

Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory

Practical experience with email protection technologies
