Guavapay is a global payment platform that drives payment optimization and stability. Guavapay’s full-stack payment ecosystem includes a range of technology products and solutions, such as the MyGuava app, including card processing, e-wallets, currency exchange, payments, transfers, top-ups, and more. MyGuava Business offers merchant acquiring services, card issuing, and more. Whatever our customers’ needs are, our breakthrough platform can help them integrate, process, manage their finances, and transact globally. We aim to take our place on the forefront of payment disruption, bringing innovative solutions for flawless and invisible payments to the market.

The Role

As Business Development Director – New Zealand, you will lead Guavapay’s market expansion in New Zealand and establish our presence as a trusted payments provider. Your focus will be on driving business growth through merchant acquiring (POS and E-commerce), card solutions, and e-wallet partnerships. You will build relationships with key stakeholders across fintech, payment networks, and merchants, while positioning Guavapay as a leader in the NZ payments ecosystem. This is a senior, high-impact role with the potential to grow into the leadership of Guavapay NZ operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business opportunities across merchant acquiring (POS & E-commerce), cards, and e-wallet solutions in New Zealand.
  • Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy to expand Guavapay’s footprint across merchants, acquirers, and fintech partners.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with payment networks, processors, and enterprise clients.
  • Negotiate strategic partnerships and commercial agreements with banks, acquirers, and technology providers.
  • Represent Guavapay in the NZ fintech and payments ecosystem, positioning the company as a trusted and innovative player.
  • Deliver revenue growth targets while ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with global teams (Product, Operations, Compliance, Marketing) to localize solutions for the NZ market.
  • Provide market insights and feedback to shape Guavapay’s product roadmap.

About You

You are an experienced business developer with a strong background in payments and fintech. You thrive in entrepreneurial, fast-paced environments, and bring deep knowledge of merchant acquiring and payment solutions in New Zealand. You’re a strategic thinker with a proven track record of building partnerships and delivering revenue growth.

Experience

  • 5+ years of business development or commercial experience in the payments / fintech sector.
  • Proven expertise in merchant acquiring (POS & E-commerce) in New Zealand.
  • Strong track record with cards, wallets, and payment processing solutions.
  • Established network of relationships within the NZ payments, banking, and merchant sectors.
  • Experience negotiating high-value commercial agreements with merchants, acquirers, or technology providers.
  • Previous leadership responsibility or readiness to step into a country director role will be a plus.

    Contract Type : Permanent

    Location : New Zealand (hybrid 3 days in office - 2 days home)
