• The Ministry of Health - Manatu Hauora (the Ministry) is seeking candidates who wish to be considered for appointment as members of the Radiation Safety Advisory Council (the Council), established under the (the Act).

The purpose of the Act is to protect the health and safety of people and protect the environment from the harmful effects of ionising radiation while allowing for the safe and beneficial use of ionising radiation.

The Act also enables New Zealand to meet its international obligations relating to radiation protection, radiation safety and security, and nuclear-non-proliferation.

Candidates for two vacancies are being sought with a view to appointing at least one lay member.

Appointments to the Council are made by the Minister or their delegate, typically for terms of three years.

The Council is seeking candidates who have experience or knowledge in the following :

Successful lay member candidates will ideally have experience in regulation, law, ethics, management or research, or will be able to provide perspectives for patients, populations groups, the environment or Maori.
