Country Manager, New Zealand – Malaysia Airlines
Reports To : Regional Manager, ANZ or as otherwise directed by the Company
Role Purpose
The Country Manager for the New Zealand is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational management, and overall business performance of the airline within New Zealand.
This role involves driving sales, increasing market share, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
The Country Manager will also be responsible for leading and developing a high-performing team, establishing and maintaining key partnerships, and representing the airline in various forums.
Key Accountability
Shape and deliver the market strategy for New Zealand, aligning with the airline's global objectives.
Drive revenue growth through strategic route development, partnerships, and customer expansion.
Lead the sales function to achieve ambitious passenger and cargo targets (where applicable).
Build strong commercial relationships with corporate clients, agencies, tourism bodies, and key partners.
Represent the airline's brand and strengthen its market presence across all channels.
Negotiate and manage contracts to secure optimal commercial outcomes.
Ensure operational excellence, compliance, and cost efficiency across all activities.
Inspire and develop a high-performing team through clear leadership and coaching.
Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability.
Lead with agility, managing challenges and ensuring business continuity when required.
Qualifications & Working Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Aviation Management, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
An MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is highly desirable.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in the airline or travel industry, with at least 5 years in a senior management role, and 5-8 years of experience in Commercial or Sales activities.
Areas of Experience
Airlines working experience is preferred.
Strong understanding of the aviation market, including business culture, regulatory environment, and market trends.
Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and managing a sales pipeline.
