Senior Electrical Engineer - Substations HV role within Beca.

Join the Primary / HV Substation Design team to deliver designs that support transmission, distribution and decarbonisation across New Zealand and Australia.

This role offers opportunities to develop technical design skills, mentor other engineers, and contribute to high-quality project outcomes in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of Primary and HV Substation designs for transmission, distribution and decarbonisation projects across New Zealand and Australia.

Develop and coach the next generation of electrical engineers, sharing knowledge and expertise.

Work within a collaborative team focused on professional, personal and technical development, contributing to delivery excellence and high-quality design.

Apply detailed design abilities to HV (220 kV) and EHV (500 kV) concepts and detailed designs for transmission and distribution clients using current digital design tools.

Address project requirements across site considerations, standards, equipment specifications, cabling sizing, earthing design calculations, and safety standards; mentor others as part of project delivery.

Support project governance, including financial and programme outcomes on assigned work packages, client management, bidding, and proposal preparation as needed.

About You

Your design experience is grounded in solid fundamentals, with a track record of delivering high voltage substation designs that ensure quality and accuracy.

You understand substation layout steps, equipment lists, clearance checks, HV cable designs, and are familiar with New Zealand and Australian regulations.

Proficiency with CYMCAP, CDEGs, Autodesk SBS, Inventor, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and / or MicroStation is advantageous.

You are motivated to learn and grow within a team, able to manage multiple tasks with a focus on outcomes.

You excel at building relationships across functions and disciplines, collaborating with clients, contractors and community groups.

You are passionate about learning, supporting others, and maintaining a positive attitude.
