  • Nurse Educator
  • is an essential part of the Te Manawa Taki Senior Nursing team.This permanent, part-time role (0.7FTE), supports continuing professional development and the delivery of evidence- based nursing practice across Public Health Nursing services.Nurse Educators are responsible for designing, implementing, evaluating and revising continuing education programmes.

They are critical in assuring quality educational experiences that prepare the nursing workforce for a diverse, ever-changing health care environment.

They are the leaders who document the outcomes of educational programmes and guide students and nursing staff through the learning process.

  • The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.

  • About you
  • You are a professional leader and role model, with proven ability to inspire, motivate and develop others.
  • You'll be able to work collaboratively across the sector and organisational boundaries to influence the nursing contribution to better outcomes for our whanau and communities.

    In this role you will be able work with senior nurses to assess education and workforce needs and identify strategies to implement and evaluate identified education programmes.

    You'll be able to support the learning need of Public Health Nurses working across the system, for example, Pacific and Maori Nursing Groups.

    You will be an experienced Senior Registered Nurse with proven expert nursing knowledge and skills to provide support to lead a team.

  • Registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • A relevant post-graduate qualification (or working towards completion in agreed timeframes)
  • 3+ years working either within the clinical area or relevant nursing role
  • An excellent communicator, with proven effective leadership experience, skills and expertise with a high level of interpersonal skills
  • A current PDRP of Senior or Expert Level or working towards within agreed timeframes
  • Experience and credibility with the health care team as a professional resource in speciality / practice area
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate evidence-based nursing practice to a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated knowledge of :
  • Current issues for nursing and health in NZ and international context + Current nursing professional standards and codes + Principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and biculturalism
  • A current full driver's license (without restrictions)
  • Emotional intelligence and ability to work in complex and stressful environments, with a wide range of diverse stakeholders
  • Proficient computer literacy including Microsoft packages
  • Be champions for, and promote the profession of nursing, including PDRP / Huarahi Whakatu / QLP
