Mo te turanga | About the role The Strategic Communications and Engagement unit uses the DOC brand and voice to drive engagement, change behaviour, educate and communicate about conservation and nature, and to socialise our work through campaigns, publications, products and national partnerships.
We are excited to announce an opportunity for an editor to join our unit in a 12-month fixed term contract.
Reporting to the Team Lead Editorial, Creative Services, you will deliver a highly efficient and effective editing service that spans a diverse and ambitious programme of work.
Whanaungatanga is a guiding principle throughout this mahi.
You will collaborate closely with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation, from scientists and policy experts through to rangers on the ground.Your expertise will be key in supporting the editing and publishing of a wide range of materials, including signs, brochures, factsheets, reports, posters and marketing campaigns, inspiring people to be aware of, connect with and act for nature and cultural heritage, and to stay safe when visiting public conservation land.
An understanding of matauranga Maori and te ao Maori is important - at DOC, we seek to bring te ao Maori into all our work and to ensure that iwi, hapu and whanau are enabled and supported to share their stories.

The salary range for this position is $68,878 to $87,265 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory - this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
