TeHerenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is seeking a Pacific Engagement Adviser to support the success of Pacific students.
Based in the Office of the Assistant Vice Chancellor Pacific, this is a permanent, full-time position working alongside a team of Pacific Engagement Advisers.
The key responsibility of the role is to support the academic success of Pacific students through :
Delivering high quality academic and holistic support programmes aimed at strengthening Pacific success.
Delivering events that support Pacific student community building.
Actively engaging with faculty staff to support the academic achievement of Pacific students.
Applying Pacific cultural practices in the engagement and support work.

We are looking for a person who is passionate about supporting student success; has excellent communication and relationship-building skills; and has a strong understanding of Pacific cultures, values, and practices.
Your desire to see our Pacific students succeed, coupled with your strong organisational skills and solutions-focused perspective, would make you an ideal candidate.
Key requirements : A tertiary degree.
Strong understanding of Pacific cultures, values and approaches.
Knowledge of New Zealand's tertiary settings, particularly how these relate to Pacific students.
Ability to build strong working relationships with students as well as academic and professional staff.
A good understanding of data, and evidence-based decision making.
