- Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
- We are seeking a high-performing Strategic Advisor to deliver results on complex and high-priority issues. This role is pivotal in shaping Treasury's work programme, providing thought leadership, and driving performance across the organisation. You will work closely with Deputy Secretaries and senior leaders to ensure Treasury's advice is impactful, evidence-based, and aligned with government priorities.Key responsibilities include :
- Leading cross-Treasury and cross-government responses to key policy challenges.
- Building and maintaining trusted relationships with Ministers, senior officials, and external stakeholders, including academia, industry leaders, and international organisations.
- Driving a high-performance culture by mentoring and supporting colleagues to deliver results.
- Support the Deputy Secretaries in ensuring the effective operation of the business group by contributing to planning, fostering a positive group culture, shaping the operating model, and delivering key initiatives that align with organisational priorities and strategic objectives.

- To excel in this role, you will bring :
- Extensive experience in policy development, with a proven ability to apply economic principles to complex issues.
- Strong strategic leadership skills, with a track record of delivering results and influencing others.
- Comprehensive knowledge of public sector operations, government processes, and priorities.
- Political acumen and the ability to build trusted relationships with Ministers and senior officials.
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field such as economics, financial analysis, or public administration.
- A commitment to fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and inclusive environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Te Ao Māori, and Pacific perspectives, with the ability to apply these in advancing equity, inclusion, and Treasury's strategic goals.
