Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver prioritised investment plans and provide high-quality advice to decision makers to support both short- and long-term planning processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure performance issues are recognised and reflected in investment strategies, driving continuous improvement in systems and processes.
- Undertake detailed technical analysis of investment needs, ensuring evidence-based recommendations using cost benefit analysis and consistently applied prioritisation approaches.
- Prepare, review, and maintain comprehensive investment plans on behalf of the organisation, ensuring they remain current and actionable.
- Advise on insights and change proposals identified through ongoing performance monitoring to inform timely decision making.
- Provide technical investment insights to support business planning activities such as operational delivery and capital prioritisation.
- Support new initiatives including process improvements or system changes that enhance the provision of investment planning advice across the organisation.
- Mentor junior team members, fostering their professional development while supporting other teams in aligning requests with strategic outcomes.
- Contribute to building a safe, supportive, high-achievement culture by assisting leadership within the Service Planning team.
- Engage with internal stakeholders such as finance, procurement, operations, and strategy groups as well as external partners like council officers.
Experience and Qualifications
A tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, economics, strategic planning, asset management or a related discipline is required for this position.At least five years’ relevant experience in investment planning or financial forecasting within complex organisations is essential.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within teams to surface important issues and facilitate robust decision-making processes involving multiple stakeholders.Proven experience presenting information clearly and facilitating cross-organisational discussions where different values or priorities may exist.Strong skills in financial data analysis (ideally using MS Excel) leading to sound decision making are necessary for success in this role.Experience developing business cases or economic analyses including cost benefit assessments is highly desirable.Excellent written communication skills tailored for decision-making audiences are expected from candidates applying for this position.A solid understanding of local or central government operating environments would be advantageous but not mandatory.Resilience when navigating changing circumstances or incomplete information is important for focusing on areas of expertise effectively.Political awareness regarding public sector transitions—from service provider roles towards asset ownership—is beneficial.Contact and Job Details
