About Hillmorton High School
Hillmorton High School is a diverse urban coeducational school situated in the southwest of Christchurch. It encompasses Y7 to 13 in dedicated middle and senior schools. We have grown rapidly in recent years to a roll of around 1,400 and with further building works underway, the roll is expected to increase further. We provide students with a caring and supportive environment, to help them achieve academic excellence, leadership skills and a love of learning.
Role and responsibilities
Our languages department is growing as the school grows but particularly in our Japanese courses. Commencing term 1, 2026 we are seeking someone to sit alongside our current teacher of Japanese to support them with our growing courses. This is timetable dependent, but we envisage a need of around 0.1 FTE to 0.3 FTE (2-6 hours per week).
Qualifications and requirements
A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the understanding and ability to operate in culturally responsive ways, is essential. In addition, applicants must be willing to contribute to our co-curricular programmes.
The successful applicant must be a NZ registered teacher.
