The Role | Mo tenei turanga mahi

Hours include : Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5 pm, with an afterhours on call component

This role offers a meaningful opportunity for a Registered Occupational Therapist to work within a mental health NGO setting, based in Christchurch.

You'll be supporting people experiencing mental distress and high mental health needs by providing care outside of traditional hospital environments.

The role includes leading and running a Day Program, conducting home visits, and offering support to other Christchurch-based services.

Responsibilities include :

Delivering individual and group-based occupational therapy interventions for whai ora and taiohi, tailored to their unique needs.

Leading the Day Program with a focus on recovery, engagement, and wellbeing.

Conducting home visits to provide flexible, person-centred support in the community.

Supporting other services across Christchurch to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Ensuring service delivery is whanau-focused, with active engagement of whanau in care planning and support.

Role modelling innovative, responsive, and high-quality service delivery that inspires wellbeing.

Developing effective and adaptable communication strategies to engage with whai ora, taiohi, whanau, and colleagues.

Collaborating with stakeholders to develop and review individual support plans that reflect physical, emotional, and spiritual goals.

Practising in a respectful, culturally appropriate, and trauma-informed manner.

About You | Mou

A NZ registered Occupational Therapist.

A current first aid certificate or be prepared to obtain one.

An understanding of what you need for your own wellbeing.

Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
