Housing Case Worker

Support people into stable housing and connect them to mental health and addiction services they need to thrive.

We work with several key organisations as part of a community-wide approach to end homelessness.

We have two full-time positions available. Both working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 5.00pm.

The role is based in Hamilton / Kirikiriroa and includes travel across other parts of the Waikato region, within working hours.

In this role you will :

• work alongside people to identify their housing needs and support them to overcome barriers to housing.
• support people to transition from their current living situation into permanent housing.
• work in collaboration with other teams and agencies to identify on-going support needs for people who have moved into permanent housing.
• help people sustain their housing and link them in with the health and social supports they need.
• work closely with other NGOs and mental health clinical teams to review goals and provide housing solutions.

We are looking for someone with :

• Knowledge and understanding of the expectations of the private rental market.
• Experience in engaging with the real estate sector and processes.
• Strong communication and relationship building skills.
• Minimum of a level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health & Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent. Or a willingness to complete this within two years of starting with us.
• Empathy and compassion, with the ability to work respectfully with diverse communities.
• Excellent attention to detail and proficiency in record keeping.
• Knowledge of and demonstrate commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi articles and working with Māori.
• A full New Zealand driving license is also essential.
