About the Role

The South Adult Community Psychiatric Service is theCommunity Treatment Team for Tangata Whaiora living in the Southern area ofChristchurch.

We offer a range of assessment, treatment and support services toindividuals currently struggling with moderate to severe and enduring mentalhealth conditions and who require specialist care.

Permanent, part-time 0.6FTE position

Fixed-term, part-time 0.6FTE position covering parental leave until 24th August 2026

About you

As aprofessional and highly motivated nurse who displays a positive attitudeand enthusiasm for this area of work, you will enjoy being part of acommitted and diverse multidisciplinary team.

You will work incollaboration with a group of professionals that recognises the importanceof providing quality care and services to their clients, supports andwhanau.

Youwill work within a multi-disciplinary team, and in collaboration with ourTangata Whaiora and their family / whanau, primary care, community supportsand our inpatient teams.

Itis essential that you have the ability to think on your feet, triage andappropriately prioritise your Tangata Whaiora - s needs in a timely manner.

Youwill hold a caseload of Tangata Whaiora who you will proactively engagewith and support to engage with their treatment and other holisticsupports.

Highly developed risk assessment is important as is your abilityto develop effective rapport with people who may be mentally unwell ordistressed.

Assessment,development of recovery plans and liaising with whanau and other carers,NGOs, police, probation and other services is all part of the CommunityMental Health Nurse role.

MustHold a Full Driver - s Licence, current APC and have a Mental Health NursingScope of Practice.

Competencywith te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to startingyour journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth

Experiencein projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals andframeworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maoriapproaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
