We're seeking an Operational Risk Analyst to join AA Insurance's newly formed Enterprise & Operational Risk team.
In this role, you will independently monitor and challenge operational risk activities across the business, ensuring alignment with our risk appetite and New Zealand's regulatory requirements.
Your insights and assessments will support the continuous improvement of operational risk controls and help embed a strong risk culture throughout the organisation.
This role is ideal for an operational risk professional with solid experience in financial services or insurance who thrives on collaboration, problem-solving, and driving continuous improvement.

As part of a broader uplift of our enterprise risk capability, you will join a brand-new team alongside two senior hires.

What you\'ll be doing :
Independently assess and challenge operational risk management activities of business units against NZ regulatory requirements.
Conduct risk monitoring, independent reviews, thematic assessments, and control testing focused on operational risk effectiveness.
Support development and implementation of operational risk controls and mitigation strategies.
Assist in preparing risk reports and tracking Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) in compliance with NZ governance expectations.
Collaborate closely with the Enterprise & Operational Risk Manager and Specialist Risk Oversight Manager.
Participate in risk culture initiatives and continuous improvement aligned to NZ regulatory guidance.
Provide risk insights and advisory support to business units to enhance operational risk awareness and management.
What you\'ll bring with you :
3-5 years' operational risk or compliance experience within New Zealand's insurance or financial services industry.
Experience in risk assessments, control testing, and independent assurance activities.
Solid understanding of operational risk frameworks and NZ regulatory environment, including prudential and conduct risk expectations.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to challenge constructively.
Excellent communication and relationship skills, able to work independently and within teams
