This is a technically driven actuary or senior actuarial analyst role focused on Prophet modelling, with additional exposure to Python, SQL, Excel, and the VBI framework.
The team operates in a dynamic, project-oriented environment delivering a range of actuarial work and complex projects.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and support projects across actuarial workstreams including scope, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder management; cover areas such as experience investigations, valuations, financial and regulatory reporting, investments, reinsurance, finance, solvency and capital management, risk management, system changes and conversions, and other broad business initiatives.Manage and mentor actuarial analysts; review work and provide guidance.Extract, reconcile, manipulate, and analyse data; develop insights and results for actuaries, finance colleagues, and external reinsurance partners.Produce, document and present value-add insights to internal and external stakeholders; communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.Assist in preparation of actuarial reports and engage with teams across AIA to contribute to the broader business.Build and maintain relationships across Financial and Actuarial, Product, Customer and Risk, as well as with external reinsurance partners.Proactively address emerging issues and challenges; apply software skills including AIA systems, SQL, MS Office, Prophet Suite, SAS, Python and R.Maintain and improve tools, models, systems, processes, methodologies, and documentation; adhere to risk management framework and relevant policies.Ideal QualificationsStrong leadership skills with the ability to engage and influence non-actuarial stakeholders and business partners.Detailed knowledge of theory and practice across actuarial work such as experience investigations, pricing, valuations, solvency and capital management, reinsurance, predictive modelling, etc.Proven technical skills including software (AIA systems, SQL, MS Office, Prophet Suite, SAS, Python, R) and strong analytical abilities.Experience in financial services, preferably life or health insurance; understanding of NZ life insurance legislative and statutory requirements.Understanding of AIA's commercial environment (products, markets, competitors).
At least four years of actuarial experience.QualificationsTertiary qualification with quantitative background (e.g., mathematics, statistics or engineering).
