This is a 12 month fixed-term, full-time position of 40 hours per week.
The remuneration range for this role is $68,420 to $92,568 p.a. depending on skills and experience.
The opportunity
Wellington Water is seeking a skilled Pipelines Welder Serviceperson to join our Network Operations Team at Pomare where you'll play a vital role ensuring the Wellington region's Bulk Water network delivers safe, reliable, and hygienic water across the community—all while upholding the highest environmental and safety standards.
Working alongside the Pipe and Fabrication team you will :
Fabricate, fit, and maintain large-diameter steel pipes on our bulk water network
Maintain and upgrade the water infrastructure according to precise standards and drawings
Undertake repairs, inspections, and collaborate closely with internal teams and external contractors to maintain the integrity of the bulk water system
Keep detailed records to meet compliance and quality expectations
Participate in on-call rotations and respond to urgent after-hours repairs
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring :
A trade certificate in fitting and welding with at least 5 years' experience in large steel pipe fabrication and repair
NZ Class 1 Driver's License (clean and full)
Competence in welding to ASME 9 standards (or working towards it)
Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fabricate components with precision
Strong commitment to health and safety, including confined space work
Able to understand and complete risk control plans alongside ability to use small plants e.g. generator & compressor
Reliable team player with excellent communication skills and a focus on quality and detail
