We are seeking a Practice Lead – Water Asset Management to establish and grow our asset management service line across Australia and New Zealand.
This role combines technical excellence, practice leadership, and client relationship development. You’ll lead major asset management and infrastructure planning projects, mentor the next generation of engineers, and help shape DWS’s evolving digital and asset management capability.
Role Summary
As the Practice Lead – Water Asset Management, you will guide the development and delivery of DWS’s asset management practice.
You will :
- Lead the delivery of asset management and network planning projects.
- Build and mentor a high‑performing team with deep capability in infrastructure asset management.
- Strengthen client relationships and identify opportunities to expand service offerings.
- Champion the integration of digital tools, analytics, and ISO 55001 principles into all asset management work.
- You will play a key role in positioning DWS as a trusted advisor in water asset performance, planning, and investment optimisation.
1. Practice Development and Leadership
Build and lead DWS’s Water Asset Management practice, aligning with the company’s strategic growth objectives.Develop service frameworks, tools, and methodologies that integrate asset management with hydraulic modelling and planning.Lead recruitment, mentoring, and training to grow capability within the practice.Define and track performance indicators for the service line, including project outcomes and client satisfaction.2. Technical Delivery
Provide technical leadership across asset management, lifecycle planning, and network optimisation projects.Apply and promote Whole‑of‑Life Asset Management principles consistent with ISO 55001.Deliver and review projects covering renewal planning, risk management, condition assessment, and investment prioritisation.Ensure quality, consistency, and innovation across all asset management deliverables.3. Client Engagement and Business Development
Build strong relationships with key clients, utilities, and councils across Australia and New Zealand.Identify new opportunities and support business development in emerging areas such as digital asset management and predictive analytics.Lead proposal development and client presentations for asset management‑related services.Represent DWS in industry forums, technical committees, and professional networks.4. Mentoring and Capability Building
Coach and mentor engineers and analysts in asset management and planning methodologies.Foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.Lead knowledge‑sharing initiatives to embed best practice across DWS.About You
You are a recognised professional in water infrastructure planning and asset management, passionate about developing people and building organisational capability. You thrive on connecting strategy with delivery and helping clients make informed, data‑driven decisions about their infrastructure.
You bring :
Proven experience leading asset management and water infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of ISO 55001 and contemporary asset management frameworks.Technical expertise in renewal planning, lifecycle modelling, and investment prioritisation.Strong client engagement and communication skills.A passion for mentoring and building capability in multidisciplinary teams.Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Engineering (Master’s preferred).
10+ years of experience in asset management, network planning, or infrastructure strategy.Experience managing and delivering large‑scale consulting projects.Proficiency with digital tools such as Info360 Asset, InfoAsset Manager, or equivalent.Understanding of GIS and asset data systems.Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent preferred.Why Join Digital Water Solutions
