We’ve recently secured the mechanical design work for the new-build and upgraded Te Puke Wastewater Treatment Plant , a major replacement of the existing facility—protecting New Zealand’s future infrastructure.
We’re seeking an Intermediate Mechanical / Water Engineer (4–8 years' experience) with a strong mechanical foundation and a passion for developing deeper expertise in water infrastructure. At MTL, you’ll be supported by a Senior Engineer plus mentorship from seniors throughout your professional journey.
What You’ll Do
Design and deliver mechanical systems for pump stations, pipelines, WWTPs, and rotating plant.Conduct technical modelling, calculations, and design packages as part of multi-disciplinary projects.Lead smaller projects and assist on larger ones—from concept through design, coordination, and documentation.Provide on-site engineering support : construction monitoring, QA, and commissioning.Engage closely with clients, contractors, and suppliers as part of your project engineering role.Work alongside a Senior Engineer and senior mentors; and pay it forward by mentoring graduates.Why MTL?

4–8 years of mechanical engineering experience—preferably with rotating plant, pumps, piping, or pressure equipment design.Exposure to water, wastewater, industrial, or renewable energy engineering projects.Ambitious but pragmatic—eager to grow in both design and project engineering.A ME degree from a Washington Accord-recognised institution; CPEng status or on the pathway.Excellent communicator with the confidence to engage with stakeholders and contribute in team settings.How to Apply
