The Role
As a Senior Accountant, you will be a primary contact for your clients, engaging with them directly and collaborating with your team to deliver high-value outcomes.
Full-Cycle Financials : Reviewing and completing financial statements—including year-end statutory accounts, periodic management accounts, and consolidated reports—ensuring compliance with all relevant reporting standards.
Taxation : Preparing and reviewing complex income tax returns (company, trust, individual), FBT, and GST, as well as assisting with tax planning and advisory.
Advisory & Analysis : Preparing cash flow statements, forecasts, and budgets, and providing clients with analysis and insights, not just data.
Mentorship : Actively developing junior team members, reviewing their workpapers, and providing constructive feedback to build team capability.
Project Work : Supporting directors with ad-hoc projects, which may include business valuations, due diligence, capital projects, and researching complex technical solutions for clients.
Skills & Experience
Ideally, you will have significant experience within a New Zealand accounting practice and thrive in a team environment.
Qualification : CA qualification (or equivalent) + 3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), preferably in a BAS or advisory role.
Technical Skills : Strong understanding of NZ tax legislation and financial reporting standards.
Communication : Ability to build client rapport and explain complex financial concepts in simple terms.
Software : Great Xero experience is essential; familiarity with Xero's app ecosystem and other reporting tools is a plus.
Attitude : A friendly, collaborative attitude with excellent analytical skills and a sharp eye for detail.
