At the very heart of the energy sector, we transport electricity from where it is generated to large electricity users and the distribution companies who deliver it to homes and businesses nationwide.To play an active role in decarbonising the economy and reducing emissions though accelerated electrification, we continue to improve, accelerate, and scale as we look towards rapidly growing demand for clean energy, modern technology, more complex power flows, and changing customer and consumer expectations.

Transpower operates one of NZ's largest private telecommunications networks (TransGO), with over 9,000KM of fibre and 15 digital microwave radio links connecting 185 substations and two data centres across the country.The Transport services team manage the Core (approx. 40 Nokia 7750 service routers) and Transport networks (approx. 700 SDH / PDH Multiplexers) and oversee the performance of our fibre and radio links.Transpower are undergoing a large lifecycle refresh programme, replacing the existing network with Nokia IXR and SAR-8 MPLS devices, and are looking for an engineer with sold MPLS skills, and with either a background, or the ability to upskill, in SDH / PDH technology to enable them to support the current team as this equipment is phased out over the next 3 years, this will include participation in the on-call roster.
