Overview
Hillmorton High School is a diverse urban coeducational school situated in the southwest of Christchurch.
It encompasses Y7 to 13 in dedicated middle and senior schools.
We have grown rapidly in recent years to a roll of around 1,400 and with further building works underway, the roll is expected to increase further.
We provide students with a caring and supportive environment, to help them achieve academic excellence, leadership skills and a love of learning.
Commencing term 1, 2026 we are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and collaborative teacher with strong skills in delivering high-quality technology education (hard materials, food and nutrition and textiles), please state your specialisation.
Please note, despite a full-time and part-time technology position being advertised in the Gazette, there is only one position.
We are open to appointing either a full-time or part-time teacher, depending on the preference of the successful candidate and the hours required from the timetable in 2026.
The successful applicant will be a team player, familiar with the relevant curriculum and be able to inspire all akonga to succeed.
A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the understanding and ability to operate in culturally responsive ways, is essential.
In addition, applicants must be willing to contribute to our co-curricular programmes.
The successful applicant must be a NZ registered teacher.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality technology education across hard materials, food and nutrition, and textiles.
Work collaboratively within the technology department and school to support student achievement and wellbeing.
Inspire akonga to succeed and develop in a culturally responsive environment.
Contribute to co-curricular programmes as required.
Qualifications
New Zealand registered teacher.
Familiarity with the relevant curriculum and ability to implement it effectively.
Willingness to contribute to timetabling requirements and adapt to full-time or part-time arrangements as needed for 2026.
