Along with identifying poor practices, the monitoring function also identified good practices and supports providers in strengthening their internal capability using exceptional relationship management skills.You'll use data and insights to prioritise monitoring activities, focusing on programme delivery, assessment and moderation practices, and learner wellbeing and safety under the Code.

You'll also work closely with other leaders across NZQA to ensure monitoring findings inform system performance reporting and capability development.

You understand the complexity of the tertiary education sector and bring a strategic lens to identifying and responding to system-level risks, compliance issues, and performance trends.You're someone who thrives in dynamic, high-stakes environments and leads with integrity, clarity and purpose.

You know how to balance regulatory responsibility with a solutions-focused mindset, and you're committed to improving outcomes for learners, education providers, iwi and communities.You build trust quickly and maintain strong, collaborative relationships across NZQA, with tertiary education organisations (TEOs), other regulators and with external agencies.

You're a skilled communicator, able to influence, advise and guide stakeholders at all levels — from kaimahi to Chief Executives.
