Mō te tūraka mahi | About the role

This role is central to the smooth running of our teaching kitchens, commercial outlets and programmes. You’ll provide essential technical and administrative support to staff and learners, ensuring resources, equipment, and spaces are well prepared, safe, and fit for purpose. You’ll work with our FDI kaimahi (staff) team and also have communication with our tauira (learners). This role supports the academic staff in the efficient running of our department.

Key responsibilities include :

• Oversight of the schools Food Control Plan and compliance with food safety requirements.
• Supporting health and safety practices across training kitchens.
• Budget and stock management of class materials and supplies.
• Preparing and maintaining teaching spaces, equipment, and resources.
• Assisting with the promotion of Food Design Institute programmes at events and open days.
• Providing professional, customer-focused support to staff, learners, and external partners.

Ko wai koe | About you

Our preferred candidate will have a good understanding of food items along with great communication and organisational skills. You will be able to work without direct supervision, however you will be guided and supported in the role.

We’re seeking someone with :

A tertiary-level qualification in hospitality or related field, and experience with finance systems, would be advantageous.

You will be a productive team member to take this hands-on role as it's crucial support to our team. You’ll have a positive attitude towards your work and a sense of humour.
