RequiredWe are seeking a highly organised and motivated Radiation Protection Consultant to support the customer Nuclear Radiation Protection Team Lead and senior team members in providing technical solutions for projects.
Responsibilities include : Supporting the work of graduate trainees to enhance their radiation protection knowledge and skills.ResponsibilitiesAct as a technical expert for Radiation Protection on major customer projects, spending 2-3 days a week on-site.Support the delivery of radiation protection advice to multidisciplinary teams on operational and design projects.Produce and coordinate radiological protection documentation such as Dose Assessments, Zoning, Risk Assessments, ALARP Assessments, Operating Instructions, and compliance statements.Provide guidance on radiological safety to ensure legislative compliance and industry best practices.Collaborate with other specialist teams to ensure a cohesive approach to ALARP.Ensure all technical activities adhere to company processes and procedures.Maintain knowledge of radiological best practices and UK legislation.Project DeliveryManage tasks against cost and schedule.Support technical submissions through review and approval processes.Ensure reviews, verifications, and approvals are completed for all deliverables.Capture lessons learned for future projects.QualificationsDegree in a STEM subject or equivalent industrial experience.RPA 2000 Certified Radiation Protection Adviser is essential.Essential SkillsAbility to lead technical teams.Understanding of Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 and associated codes.Desired SkillsStrong communication skills for client and colleague interactions.Proven technical writing skills.Experience with nuclear site license compliance.Knowledge of ONR Safety Assessment Principles and relevant legislation.Understanding of risks during design, operation, and decommissioning phases.ExperienceSupporting radiation protection work across projects.Ensuring consistent approaches to radiation protection issues.Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.Producing technical documentation.Designing processes and facilities.Interfacing with safety case teams.Proven radiation protection experience.Pre-application RequirementsWillingness and ability to obtain necessary security clearances, including Developed Vetting.Willingness to work on civil and UK defence projects.BenefitsCollaborative environment supporting skill development and inspiring projects.Access to accredited training courses via expleoAcademy.Competitive benefits.Inclusive recruitment and support for employees with disabilities.We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all qualified persons regardless of race, sex, disability, religion / belief, sexual orientation, or age.
