Accountant

Overview

We’re looking for an experienced accountant to join our small and supportive team at Lyttelsoft. Based in the heart of Lyttelton (with great views and a bakery just downstairs!), we work with a wide range of clients across different industries and pride ourselves on building long-term, valued partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of clients and preparing tax returns for a variety of entities, including companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals.
• Ensuring clients remain compliant with tax obligations while providing clear, practical advice when needed.
• No two days are the same – you’ll work with multiple businesses, gaining exposure to different industries and structures, and building relationships that help support our clients’ success.
• Preparing and reviewing income tax returns.
• Preparing financial statements for a range of entities (companies, trusts, partnerships, individuals).
• Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and provide proactive support.
• Ensuring compliance with New Zealand tax legislation and reporting requirements.
• Assisting with tax planning and advisory work where needed.
• Working closely with our team to continually improve processes and client service.
