Overview

Strengthening Families Co-ordinator

Part Time permanent position (24 hours per week).

Thames-Coromandel and Hauraki Districts.

The Strengthening Families process connects whanau who require assistance from more than one agency or community service.

The Strengthening Families Coordinator coordinates and facilitates a whanau-centric approach, bringing people together to jointly develop a plan that focuses on improving the health, education and social outcomes the whanau want for their tamariki and themselves.

PLEASE NOTE : CAPS is not accredited with Immigration New Zealand and cannot sponsor candidates needing a visa.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and facilitate a whanau-centric process to bring together multiple agencies or community services.

Work with the team to help whanau develop joint plans that target outcomes in health, education and social wellbeing for tamariki and family members.

Provide support to ensure a collaborative, solution-focused approach and progress toward identified outcomes.

Be a confident facilitator who can engage diverse stakeholders in complex discussions and contribute to plan development.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support the delivery of challenging and rewarding work.

Qualifications and Skills

Ideally you will have a Social Work Qualification and Social Work Registration.

Facilitation skills that focus on complex discussions around achievement of identified outcomes.

Ability to provide support and training to other professionals around the Strengthening Families Facilitation process.

Experience of working alongside children, young people, adults and whanau.

Commitment to bi-cultural practice and sound knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how this applies to and guides social work practice and interventions.

Understanding of the impacts of family violence, sexual violence and other forms of abuse.

Excellent listening, communication and relationship-building skills.

Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.

Ability to demonstrate initiative, good judgement and flexibility.

Excellent time management and organisational skills.

Proven record of maintaining confidentiality and working within the ethical parameters of the social work registration board.

Ability to utilise IT systems including a web-based database and maintain appropriate client records and provide reports as required.

A full and clean driver's license.

This position is classed as a Core Worker and will require a safety check, inclusive of Police Vetting, under the Children's Act 2014.
