Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology has recently undergone an organisational reshape as we prepare to re-establish ourselves as a stand-alone organisation in line with the government changes to vocational education in Aotearoa.

We are seeking a visionary Rangahau and Research Lead to champion our research strategy and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.

Directorate
Academic Delivery and Development is our core teaching and learning function through which we develop and educate at Toi Ohomai.
This directorate leads the strategic development and delivery of programmes, fosters kaiako capability, leads innovation within the ako digital ecosystem, leads rangahau and research, and enables strategic growth through provision planning and pathway development ensuring our mix of provision meets the evolving workforce needs of our region.
Through strengthened partnerships across the organisation, the directorate supports continuous improvement, agile delivery models, and data-informed decision-making.
With a focus on collaboration, efficiency, and innovation, the directorate plays a vital role in shaping future-ready learning experiences that enable both akonga and kaiako to thrive.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a rangahau and research strategy aligned with teaching, learning, and regional priorities.
Build rangahau and research capability amongst kaiako to support postgraduate research and secure external funding.
Lead the rangahau and research office and operations, including the institution's research committee.
Foster strategic partnerships and collaborative rangahau and research initiatives.
Promote learner-centred, applied research that reflects community aspirations.
Drive continuous improvement and innovation across research activities.
You Bring :
A minimum PhD level qualification in a relevant discipline or the equivalent body of research knowledge and expertise gained through experience and scholarly contribution.
A strong track record of securing external competitive research funding and delivering rangahau or research outputs and engagement.
Senior leadership experience in a complex organisation.
Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Maori success.
A passion for equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
