Overview
The purpose of this role is to lead and deliver transport infrastructure projects, supporting NZ Transport Agency’s vision of efficiently delivering an integrated, safe, responsive and sustainable transport system. You will establish and nurture close collaboration with all partners, including local iwi, contractors and consultants, to ensure project outcomes meet the agency’s desired outcomes and deliver tangible benefits for the wider community.
Responsibilities
- Contribute technical leadership across significant projects that deliver tangible benefits for the community.
- Lead projects through various stages, which could include investment case development, planning, procurement, detailed design, and physical works.
- Manage and mentor internal and external project teams, ensuring alignment with NZTA’s policies and standards.
- Collaborate with local authorities, stakeholders, and development partners to secure relationships and facilitate project delivery.
- Maintain a strong focus on schedule, financial, and risk management, and provide accurate reporting to senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance with legislation and NZS391X contract delivery models.
- Engage in relationship management and negotiation with senior leaders within the transport sector.
Qualifications
5‑8 years of experience in project management within complex construction or infrastructure environments.Proven experience in schedule, financial and risk management, preferably in the transport sector.Strong understanding of legislation and business case development for transport projects.Experience managing contracts within the civil engineering industry and familiarity with NZS391X format contracts.Exceptional relationship management skills and a collaborative, team‑focused approach.Leadership ability to influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders.Benefits
