Youth Engagement Manager

This is a vibrant leadership role at the heart of our work with and for young people, including leading and evolving the Y25 programme, growing our alumni community and creating space for new initiatives that respond to what matters most to young people today in Aotearoa.

The opportunity

We'relooking for our new Youth Engagement Manager. In this role,you'lllead and own our work with young women and gender diverse youth.The key deliverable is our flagship programme - Y25.Each year this impactful initiative evolves with the cohort to stay relevant and engaging.It's a special experience that requires a leader who knows how to create and hold space for young people to be themselves and develop bonds.

As the Youth Engagement Manager, you will manage and mentor our Communications and Engagement Lead(a young person working across socials, Y25 and advocacy) and help them flourish and learn. The wider team will pitch in and assist a ‘Aunties’ and bring a wealth of different skills and experiences. Every year Y25, is a team effort and the richer for it.

As well as the annual Y25 programme, we are developing a vibrant alumni of all participants since 2020. There are many tuakana- teina opportunities throughout the year and we return to this group often for co‑design and ideas that shape what we do and how we deliver it. In addition, there are one off projects and campaigns that you'll help plan, deliver and communicate to our stakeholders.

This is a hands‑on and heart‑led role —ideal for someone who thrives in relationship‑building, brings energy and empathy to their work, and knows how to hold space where young people can be their authentic selves.

About you

You have experience managing youth-led or community programmes that create impact and connection. You’ll bring strong organisational skills, clear communication, and a deep understanding of the issues facing young women and gender diverse youth in Aotearoa.

You’ll stand out if you :

• Have proven experience working directly with young people in leadership or development contexts.
• Bring creativity and courage to co‑design and community engagement.
• Know how to plan, prioritise and deliver from big picture vision to daily details.
• Champion equity, empathy and Te Tiriti-based approaches in your mahi.
