We are looking for a Cafe Manager to organise daily operations and motivate our staff to provide excellent customer service.Key responsibilities :
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the café / restaurant to ensure smooth and efficient service at all times.
- Oversee overall business performance, including financial planning, budgeting, and accurate reporting.
- Negotiate with suppliers, monitor stock levels, and maintain detailed inventory and ordering records.
- Organise and coordinate private functions, special bookings, and events to maximise business opportunities.
- Plan and implement marketing initiatives, seasonal promotions, and community engagement activities.
- Manage digital presence, including online reviews, social media engagement, and promotional content.
- Nurture friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost our reputation
- Add new menu items based on seasonality and customers' preferences and coordinate with chefs
- Recruit, hire, and train new staff while preparing rosters, managing shifts, and monitoring staff performance.
- Make the staff rosters and handle all the correspondence with staff
- Supervise and motivate team members to deliver consistent service quality and resolve customer concerns effectively.
- Monitor staff performance through regular reviews and provide coaching for professional development.
- Monitor customer feedback, analyse service issues, and implement improvements where required.
- Handle payments through both cash and card transactions and reconcile daily takings accurately.
- Complete paperwork and documentation for audits, compliance checks, and operational records.
- Maintain updated records of daily, weekly and monthly revenues and expenses
- Ensure all equipment and machinery are maintained, serviced, and in good working order.
- Develop strategies to improve efficiency during peak hours and manage customer flow effectively.
- Handle recruitment paperwork, contracts, and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Provide leadership during busy times by assisting on the floor while maintaining oversight of operations.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, workplace health and safety, and council audit requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards across all café and dining areas.
- Clear customer table and set up after customer left
- Ensuring that company policy standards are upheld
- Perform any additional duties as directed by the Director.
Requirements :
Diploma or higher relevant qualification or 2-3 years of relevant experience in managerial or supervisor position.Experience in managerial or supervisory position is an advantage.Hold LCQ qualification and / or General Manager Certificate to work in NZMust have customer service work experience in hospitality industryNeed to have that confidence of running a cafe independentlyAbility to multi-task to run a cafeAvailability to work within opening hours (including weekends and holidays)Outgoing and engaging personality with great customer rapportAble to train and motivate staffDriver licence is an advantage but not essential.Ability to work shifts, over weekends, and on public holidays.Location of work – Lower Hutt, Wellington Type - Permanent position Work hours - 30 hours per week or more as required by the business Wages- $28 to $29 per hour as negotiated
