About the Role

TheNational Care Pathways Clinical Editorplays a key role in developing and maintaining clinical pathways that support safe, equitable, and evidence-based care across Aotearoa.

You'll work collaboratively with clinicians, technical writers, and programme teams to ensure pathways are accurate, relevant, and usable at the point of care.

This role is central to the HealthPathways programme, which provides clinicians with access to localised, condition-specific pathways of care.

You'll be responsible for identifying, editing, validating, and maintaining clinical content that reflects local service provision and supports the safe patient journey across primary care and secondary care.

About the Service

HealthPathways is a comprehensive programme that gives clinicians access to a central hub of localised, condition-specific care pathways.

Pathways are nationally aligned but locally delivered and are tailored to the local health system by Clinical Editors, working in partnership with subject matter experts and programme teams to ensure they accurately reflects local services and resources.

About you

As a Clinical Editor, you will hold a recognised clinical qualification and a current APC.

Previous experience as a Clinical Editor is highly desirable, and there is an expectation that the successful candidate will continue to dedicate part of their working hours to clinical practice, for example within General Practice.

In this role, you will be able to :

Demonstrate a strong understanding of medical terminology, clinical guidelines, and evidence-based medicine

Review, validate, and edit clinical information with precision to ensure content is accurate, relevant, and easy to understand

Triage information and feedback effectively, ensuring clear and consistent messaging

The ideal candidate will also bring outstanding oral and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver clinical information that is accurate, unambiguous, and presented in well-structured, reader-friendly pathways suitable for a clinical audience.
