High priority areas that the team is currently working on include : The health of older people and the aged care systemThe Government's response to the Royal Commission into abuse in care and faith-based institutionsHow the health system responds to the needs of children and young people in care and youth justice settingsHow the health system supports child protection, and issues related to family violence and sexual violenceAs a Policy Analyst you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based advice to improve health outcomes.
Your work will involve gathering and analysing information to inform policy analysis, developing and applying analytical skills to understand policy issues, and producing policy documents, including Aide Memoires and briefings for senior managers and Ministers.
You will build and leverage strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders within the Ministry and other agencies.What you bringA tertiary qualification in health, policy or a relevant field and / or equivalent experienceAn understanding of public policy, government processes and structuresAn analytical mindset with the ability to ask probing questions to uncover underlying informationStrong relationship-building skills and experience working with stakeholdersExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsPrevious experience working in policy preferredAbout usAt Manatu Hauora – Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance.
