Tonkin + Taylor is a 100% New Zealand-owned specialist environmental and engineering consultancy with offices across NewZealand and in Australia.We are looking for an Intermediate Business Intelligence Analyst / Developer with a strong foundation in both data engineering and business intelligence reporting to join our Technology team in Auckland.This is a highly varied and hands-on role, providing a fantastic opportunity to be deeply involved in our data platform, reporting, and self-service BI initiatives, working closely with many different parts of our business.This role's core responsibilities involve developing and optimising data pipelines, conducting data modelling and data transformation (primarily in Databricks), as well as creating advanced Power BI reports and dashboards to provide insights across strategic, tactical, and operational levels.You will work with both structured and unstructured data sources and will be expected to use best-practice modelling techniques (e.g. star schema, medallion architecture), applying technical leadership across our BI tools and platforms.
You will also play a key part in mentoring analysts across the business, championing the use of Power BI, and driving the use of consistent and trusted data models and data governance practices.You will have : 3 - 5 years' experience in a BI Analyst or Developer RoleProven experience with Power BI report and dashboard development including DAX and Power QueryWorking knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and SQL, with strong ETL and data modelling capabilitiesStrong understanding of data warehousing, data lake architecture, and data governanceExperience translating stakeholder requirements and business problems into robust data models and actionable insightsStrong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholdersA tertiary qualification in Information Systems, Data Analysis, Technology or a related fieldExperience working in a dynamic environment with cross-functional teams and Agile practicesExposure to a variety of professional experts and projects;A highly supportive team environment where you are encouraged to pave your own career path that caters to your ambitionsProfessional memberships and continued education supportInternal training and mentoring programs$750 annual wellbeing allowance and wellbeing programmeA very active social club and state of the art, modern and contemporary officesWe embrace flexible working at T+T and aim to work in a way that serves the needs of our people, clients and communities.
