Te Tuapapa Kura Kainga – The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) leads Aotearoa – New Zealand's housing and urban development work programme.

About the role

As Senior Advisor, Delivery Support Services, you will be part of a small team supporting a busy Directorate with briefings, information requests, written and oral questions and requests under the Official Information Act.

We also coordinate complex pieces of work across the Directorate and support our colleagues across the Group with additional capacity, where we can.

We work in a fast-paced environment with varied subject matter, closely supporting Government social housing priorities.

This role is ideally suited to someone who is confident working at a Senior Advisor level, knowledgeable about the Machinery of Government and is experienced quickly coming to grips with new subject matter to producing consistently high-quality advice.

Your responsibilities will include :

Leading multiple pieces of work concurrently and managing multiple urgent deadlines.

Leading and contributing to responses to sensitive or complex Official Information Act requests, Ministerial correspondence, oral and written parliamentary questions, advice to Ministers and select committees (including the Estimates Examination and Annual Review processes), reports to Ministers, and proactive releases in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.

Collaborating with the Directorate and wider HUD for input.

Ensuring that Ministers, Parliament, HUD business units, and the public are well served with timely, accurate, transparent, high-quality information, advice, and support.

Bringing a strategic lens to issue management, ensuring a range of perspectives are considered and consistency.

Provide quality peer-review support.

The salary range for this role is $105,780 – $129,286 +3% KiwiSaver contribution.

This is an 18-month fixed term, Wellington based position.

Be a strong writer and communicator with excellent attention to detail.

Organised and capable of juggling multiple pieces of work with tight deadlines.

You will be experienced cutting to the heart of complex issues and requests, providing quality advice that is fit for purpose.

Have a well-rounded skillset.

Literacy in financial information, communications beneficial but not essential.

Present complex and technical messages in a clear, jargon-free way that is tailored to the audience.

Have Senior-level experience in managing, delivering and peer-reviewing briefings, advice, Official Information Act requests, Ministerial correspondence, parliamentary questions, select committee documents, Cabinet documents, and advice and reports for Ministers.

Show initiative and know how to think on your feet.

You will make quality decisions and possess sound judgement, identify and anticipate risk and elevate when necessary.

See the bigger picture and make connections across priorities and teams.

Have political nous and a radar for risk.

Build robust relationships.
