We're looking for a strategic thinker, compelling writer, and collaborative connector to join our team on a fixed term (18 months) basis as Senior Advisor, Strategy at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
In this key role, you'll contribute to setting the strategic direction of an organisation that keeps New Zealand skies safe and connected.
About the Role
As one of the Senior Advisors, Strategy you will be at the forefront of implementing the CAA's new strategy.
Working closely with the Manager, System and Organisational Strategy and the Principal Advisor, Strategy in this newly established team, you will help deliver our long-term strategic plans, visions, and statutory accountability documents including our Statement of Intent,Statement of Performance Expectations, and more.
Your focus in this role is on internal engagement, especially working with our frontline regulatory teams.
You will also work closely with our Governance and Finance teams to ensure the organisation's planning and reporting process runs smoothly and provide input into strategic business planning and accountability reporting.
Roughly a third of your work will be undertaking projects to support our exemption function and supporting wider work across the Strategy, Policy and International Engagement Group.
What You Will Do
Work in partnership with key teams across the CAA to implement strategy and organisational plans.
Translate complex information into clear, and concise narrative for a wide range of audiences.
Support the development and writing of key strategic and statutory documents.
Provide high-quality strategic advice based on system risk and intelligence that informs decision-making across CAA.
Co-ordinate the CAA's strategic planning and reporting cycle, and support business planning.
Plan and carry out specific exemption projects to align our exemptions with our new Civil Aviation Act, including summarising complex technical information for decision makers.
What You Will Bring
Experience in strategy development, Crown Entity accountability or organisational planning.
Experience and confidence to impact and influence at a senior level with our Board and Executive Leadership team.
Exceptional writing and communication skills, you know how to tell a compelling strategic story.
Strong analytical thinking with the ability to connect the dots in complex systems.
Basic project management skills, with experience breaking a complex matter into a series of tasks, and reporting on progress against those tasks.
Experience working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
An interest in regulatory environments or the aviation sector is a bonus!
The salary band for this position starts at $115,536 to a maximum of $141,751.
The starting salary will be based on the knowledge, skills and experience you may bring to the role and relativities across the organisation.
