Overview

Drainage Operator / Labourer – Civil Site Work in Lyttelton We’re looking for a skilled Drainage Operator / Labourer to join an experienced civil crew working on essential infrastructure upgrades in Lyttelton. This is a hands-on role that requires confidence operating machinery, solid drainage knowledge, and a strong commitment to health and safety. If you’re reliable, physically fit, and keen to be part of a well-run crew — this role could be for you.

Location : Lyttelton, Christchurch

Start : Immediate start available

Pay rate : $32–$36 per hour (depending on experience and licences)

What you’ll be doing

• Operating a range of machinery (e.g. excavators, rollers, loaders) safely and efficiently
• Performing manual drainage tasks such as trenching, laying pipe, backfilling, and compaction
• Assisting with general site preparation, clean-up, and reinstatement
• Maintaining environmental protections and adhering to safety controls
• Reading basic site plans and following instructions from site supervisors
• Working around live services and active plant in a high-risk environment

Hours

7 : 00am–5 : 00pm, Monday to Friday
