Chanel College is a Catholic, co-educational, state-integrated secondary school (Y7–13), located in Masterton. We are looking for a dynamic, inspiring Director of Religious Studies (DRS) to join our team.
Role and responsibilities
The DRS will lead and inspire the faith formation of students, staff, and whānau, ensuring the Catholic special character is deeply embedded in all aspects of school life. This role places a strong emphasis on leading young people to a genuine encounter with Christ. The DRS will actively foster a vibrant, relational and inclusive Catholic culture that removes barriers for young people, helps them connect with their faith and with other young Catholics, and supports the school’s mission as a Catholic school in Aotearoa New Zealand.
This role does not include curriculum leadership but would work closely with the head of learning area - religious education.
The applicant will be able to teach religious education from Y7–13, will model culturally sustaining Te Tiriti honouring practice and be passionate about leading our tauira to Christ. This special character (tagged) position combines classroom teaching with responsibility for religious education and our Catholic identity. A willingness and ability to participate in religious instruction appropriate to the special character of the school is a condition of appointment. Give guidance and provide effective leadership in religious education and observances throughout the school.
