OverviewHomework & Mentoring Tutor – Church-Based Youth ProgramWe are a welcoming, church-based community running a Homework and Mentoring program for children and young people from early childhood through to high school.
Our program runs fortnightly during the school term, on Wednesday evenings from 6 : 00–8 : 30pm.As a tutor, you will support students primarily in Maths and Science, helping them with their homework, understanding challenging concepts, and building confidence in these subjects.
Beyond academics, you'll provide encouragement, guidance, and positive role modeling in a safe, friendly environment.
You'll be supporting children and teens of various ages, from early childhood to high school
Your role
Assist students with Maths and Science homework
Explain concepts in ways that make sense to each child
Encourage independent thinking, problem-solving, and curiosity
Provide mentorship and support in learning
If you enjoy teaching or mentoring young people and have a passion for Maths and Science, this is a rewarding way to give back to the community and make a real difference in a child's learning journey.
Requirements
Ex-teachers, tutors, or university students with knowledge in Maths and Science
Enjoy working with children and teens of varying ages
Patient, encouraging, and able to explain concepts clearly
Comfortable guiding students through homework and fostering independent thinking
Reliable and committed to attending fortnightly sessions during the school term
A positive, friendly presence who can act as a mentor and role model
Willing to adapt explanations to different learning styles
A Police background check is required for this role.
Time commitment
Wednesday evenings, 6–8 : 30pm
