This is a technical role performing a variety of tasks related to maintaining computer hardware in the University’s central ITS Data Centres, including remote sites between Invercargill and Auckland.
As a Digital Infrastructure Operations Engineer, you’ll work hands‑on with a diverse range of technologies – from servers to high‑capacity storage – while helping maintain and support two of Central ITS’s core data centres. Join a dynamic and ever‑evolving team at the heart of ITS operations.
The Digital Infrastructure team at Otago University have the privilege of managing and supporting one of the largest and most complex IT sites in New Zealand. We provide many of the systems and services that the University needs to deliver high quality research and teaching outcomes.

We’re on the lookout for someone with a solid foundation in server management and a passion for building their technical skills. Our team supports a diverse environment of around 1,200 virtual machines, split between Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

This is a full time (37.5 hours) permanent position, based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin. Scheduled after‑hours work and participation in an on‑call roster as required.
The appointment range for this position is $85,057 to $92,174. Top of range $97,508.
