The Opportunity
BDO New Zealand is seeking a highly experienced audit professional to lead our Assurance Support function. This newly created “Head of” role is pivotal in driving audit quality, supporting our national network, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
You’ll provide practical, business-focused support to assurance partners and their engagement teams, identifying development needs, delivering targeted training, and offering hands‑on guidance to enhance audit quality. You’ll collaborate closely with quality leadership, with a core focus on being a trusted, in‑business resource for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Proactively identify development needs across the network through file reviews and regular dialogue with partners.Deliver guidance, support, and training to improve the quality of assurance services.Coach and support Assurance Partners and their teams, consulting on methodology and standards.Collaborate with Quality & Ethics, Risk & Compliance, and Learning & Development teams.Support the delivery of the annual work plan, training sessions, and audit conference.Contribute to strategy, planning, and national initiatives.About You
Associate / Associate Director or Partner level in audit, or equivalent experience in a technical / quality assurance role.Previous client‑facing audit experience, or current or recent experience in an internal‑facing technical or quality role (e.g., audit technical, audit quality, professional standards).CA qualification (or equivalent) and relevant tertiary qualification.Strong knowledge of NZ and International Auditing and Assurance Standards, Quality, Professional and Ethical Standards, and Accounting Standards.Excellent communication, technical, and analytical skills.Commercial and pragmatic approach, with high ethical standards and integrity.Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a proactive and adaptable mindset.Competitive remuneration packageCar park and mobile phoneBirthday day offCommunity dayAnnual opportunity to purchase extra leaveAPPLY NOW
