Overview
Library and Council Services Assistant – Helensville Library. The role requires flexibility to work from other sites within the local board area (Rodney Local Board). Helensville Library serves a diverse and vibrant community, and the team focuses on caring for people, the community, and the environment. The successful candidate will support the team and contribute to the day‑to‑day running of the library in a customer service role.
Responsibilities
- Support the day‑to‑day operations of the library and contribute to a high‑achieving, cohesive, and dynamic team.
- Assist customers from all walks of life and provide outstanding customer service.
- Utilise digital tools to assist customers with services such as rates payments, dog registrations, and other council services.
- Engage with the community in a positive, proactive manner and help create a welcoming library environment.
Shifts
Saturdays 08 : 30am to 13 : 30pm – 5 hoursMonday / Tuesday 08 : 45 to 17 : 15 – 7.5 hours (includes a 60 minute meal break)Wednesday / Thursday 08 : 45 to 17 : 00 – 7.25 hours (includes a 60 minute meal break)Qualifications and Skills
Strong people skills, flexibility, and adaptability to a library environment.Passion for customer service with a positive attitude toward serving people of all ages and backgrounds.Willingness to learn new skills and thrive in a busy work environment.Digitally literate with confidence in using technology and information resources; able to support customers in using devices and online services.Knowledge or willingness to learn Te Ao Māori; understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and appreciation for diverse communities.Desirable Attributes
