We're looking for a dynamic
Project Manager
to lead the day-to-day delivery of a significant regulatory change project.
You'll be working in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment, ensuring the project is delivered on time, within scope and budget, while minimising disruption to business-as-usual operations.
As the Project Manager, you will :
Drive integrated planning and coordination across multiple workstreams.
Coordinate with Customs, industry partners, and partner agencies.
Manage risks, issues, and dependencies to keep the project on track
Produce high-quality documentation and reporting to support governance and decision-making
Lead the transition from project delivery to operational readiness and business-as-usual.
This is a fixed term contract for 12 months and you will report to theStrategic Programme Manager.
The salary range for this role is $124,950to $169,050.
About You | Ko wai koe
You're a confident and capable leader with a strong background in project delivery, particularly in regulatory or government environments.
You thrive in complexity and bring clarity, coordination, and momentum to every initiative.
Ideally you will bring :
5+ years' experiencemanaging large-scale regulatory or government change projects.
Proven ability to lead projects from inception to completion.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Expertise in risk management, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Project management certification and practical experience in technical implementation.

To work for the New Zealand Customs Service, you must be able to meet the following requirements :
Be a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident
Residing in New Zealand at the time of application
Have resided continuously in New Zealand for the last 5 years
Successful applicants are also required to pass a drug test and have a clear Police record.
