This is a full-time position for 40 hours per week, the remuneration range for this role is $117,099 to $165,316 (including KiwiSaver), appointment remuneration will be dependent on skills and experience.
The opportunity
In this exciting new position you will pave the direction and culture of a team responsible for the reliability and performance of Wellington's three waters network.
As Team Leader Network Engineers, you'll provide both technical leadership and people management — ensuring your team focuses on high-value operational and improvement projects while maintaining strong engineering oversight and safe delivery.
You'll be a key connector across Wellington Water, helping to shape the way we work today and into the future.
In this role, you will :
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of network engineers to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes
Oversee a significant programme of minor works capital projects and operational investigations , ensuring reliability and compliance of the water networks.
Provide technical guidance and approvals for operational and design activities
Build strong relationships across the organisation and with councils, contractors, and regulators to enable effective collaboration
Champion continuous improvement initiatives and standardised engineering practices across the team
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring :
A relevant engineering qualification (CPEng desirable)
Demonstrated experience leading a technical or engineering team
Proven experience working at a senior engineering level in the water or utilities sector
Strong technical knowledge of network operations, asset management, and maintenance practices
Excellent communication and relationship management skills
A proactive, improvement-focused approach that balances technical depth with people leadership
