About the Company
This established Australasian business supplies critical components to customers across construction, roofing, and industrial trades.
With a long-tenured leadership team and major growth underway in the NZ market, they're investing in the future – and the Auckland warehouse is central to that strategy.
The Opportunity
This is not a role for a hands-on picker or "best operator" promoted to lead.
It's a leadership position focused on people, performance, and operational maturity.
You'll take full ownership of the Manukau warehouse — leading a team of ~16 (scaling to 25), building a safety-first culture, and transforming reactive processes into efficient, customer-focused systems.
Reporting to the National Operations Manager (based in Australia), you'll lead the daily rhythm while driving long-term improvements.
That includes lifting DIFOT, managing in-house and third-party logistics, embedding safe systems of work, and preparing the site to support extended hours and higher stock depth.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and performance-manage warehouse staff — set expectations and hold the line
Build safety culture and ensure full compliance with training, PPE, and safe systems
Oversee receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch operations
Optimise delivery methods (own van vs NZ Couriers, Mainstream, etc.) to meet time-critical service promises
Analyse delivery failures and customer complaints — fix root causes, not just symptoms
Prepare the site for future growth and extended hours (e.g., 6am–6pm coverage)
Partner with senior leaders, sales, and freight providers to meet operational goals
About You
We're looking for someone who's confident leading teams and shaping operations — not just managing the day-to-day.
Proven experience as a Warehouse or DC Manager (or a strong 2IC ready to step up)
People leadership strength — confident managing performance and culture
Experience in 3PL, multi-client, or time-sensitive distribution environments
Strong process thinking — data-driven and proactive in identifying patterns and solutions
Good systems aptitude — exposure to any WMS
Familiarity with safety-critical environments and embedding best practice
Commercial awareness — understands the cost implications of layout, freight, and labour choices
What's in it for You
Competitive $110K base salary
Laptop and phone provided
Opportunity to join an incentive scheme from year two
Significant career growth potential as NZ operations expand
Autonomy to lead, challenge, and shape your site
Long-term career mindset – join a leadership team with
