Project Accountant - Ōtaki / Levin

About the Project

The Ōtaki to North of Levin (Ō2NL) highway will dramatically improve safety, resilience, and efficiency, while increasing transport choices for a growing population. The project is being delivered in partnership with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, Muaūpoko Tribal Authority, local hapū of Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga, and Horowhenua District Council.

This is a transformative infrastructure project being delivered using a two-alliance model. Our shared project principles include treading lightly on the whenua, building strong partnerships, and delivering an enduring legacy. We’re looking for great people to join us on this unique journey.

About the Role

The Project Accountant supports the delivery of the Ō2NL project by assisting with financial processes, coordination, and administration.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role plays a vital part in ensuring data integrity and governance support for the Southern Alliance, maintaining robust systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end processing including journals, WIP, and cost accruals
• Support implementation and adherence to financial procedures and systems
• Ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with alliance policies and accounting standards
• Assist with financial analysis of indirect costs and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly
• Support GST returns, cash tracking, and journal reconciliations
• Assist with financial report preparation and budget / forecasting (Opex and Capex)
• Ensure accurate setup of new projects and work orders in ERP systems and maintain timesheet reporting
• Review AP ledger, respond to invoice queries, and manage subcontractor retention records
• Assist with credit control activities and overdue debtor reporting
