About the role

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora are seeking a dedicated Paediatrician to join our dynamic team at Dunedin Hospital.

You will provide expert care to children and adolescents across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.

This is a permanent position with opportunities for subspecialty development.

The role is a full-time position, however the department is open to negotiating part-time positions.

Key responsibilities include the following :

Deliver comprehensive paediatric care to improve the health of children and adolescents in inpatient and outpatient settings, including rural and community outreach

Participate in the 1 : 7 shared on-call roster

Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and students

Collaborate with allied health professionals and community services

Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives

What you need to work here

To practise as a Paediatrician in New Zealand, you must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).

International applicants will need a postgraduate qualification comparable to Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP in Paediatrics) or another recognised paediatric qualification.

The ideal applicant will :

hold vocational registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand

hold Fellowship of the RACP or equivalent paediatric qualification

bring medical expertise and experience to an acute tertiary care hospital and contribute to the advanced care of acute paediatric inpatients and a full spectrum of general paediatric outpatients, including behavioural and developmental

have strong communication and skills to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team

have a commitment to equity, cultural safety, and child-centred care.

Salary range

This role belongs to the ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($185,380) and Step 15 ($267,980 per annum pro-rata).
