Job description

Auckland Closing date : 28 November 2025 Reference : Apply Now

As our Procurement Manager – Property, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the commercial strategy across Southern Cross Healthcare’s extensive property portfolio — supporting 10 wholly owned and six joint venture hospitals nationwide. Acting as a trusted partner to our Property and Development leadership team, you’ll drive strategic procurement outcomes through smart supplier selection, contract negotiation, and commercial leadership that deliver real value for our hospitals.

This is a role for a commercially savvy professional who thrives on turning strategy into results. You’ll lead sourcing and contracting activity within the property category, developing supplier panels and ensuring every agreement drives value, quality, and performance. You’ll champion innovative approaches to reduce costs, improve services, and strengthen supplier relationships — ensuring our procurement processes support Southern Cross’s broader vision and operational goals.

As a commercial leader, you’ll bring a deep understanding of business drivers, risk, and supplier dynamics to every decision. You’ll balance cost and quality, deliver measurable efficiencies, and provide expert advice across all property projects and capital investments. Working collaboratively across the organisation, you’ll mentor others, influence outcomes, and help shape a procurement function that’s focused not just on transactions — but on long-term, strategic value for Southern Cross Healthcare. This is a permanent full‑time role based out of our National Support office in the CBD.

  • 8+ years’ experience in commercial or procurement roles, including 5 within the property sector, with deep knowledge of NZS 3910, industry‑standard contracting, and complex build environments.
  • Proven success leading large‑scale market engagements — from RFx processes and supplier panels to innovative pricing and risk‑sharing models — delivering strong commercial outcomes.
  • Strong financial and analytical capability, using data and insights to inform strategy, manage budgets, and drive value, quality, and risk balance across projects.
  • Skilled communicator and influencer, trusted by stakeholders at all levels — from site teams to executives — to provide sound commercial advice and challenge thinking constructively.
  • Collaborative, emotionally intelligent team player and emerging leader, known for integrity, ambition, and results.
  • Digitally confident and detail‑driven, proficient in procurement systems, data analysis, and Excel, with a focus on process transparency and governance.
  • Resilient and adaptable, thriving in fast‑paced environments and comfortable working “in the grey” to find pragmatic, best‑practice procurement solutions.
  • Tertiary qualification in finance, project management, law, or quantity surveying (or equivalent experience).
  • Competitive Rewards : Attractive remuneration package, relocation allowance, and employee referral bonus scheme.
  • Health & Wellbeing : Funded health insurance, a comprehensive wellbeing programme, and generous Christmas / New Year breaks.
  • Flexibility & Growth : Flexible working arrangements and a Nursing Council of New Zealand‑approved PDRP.
  • Perks & Community : Discounts from a range of partners and the opportunity to join our Employee Rainbow Network.
